Aromatherapy Trade Council
The ATC is the UK authoritative body for the Aromatherapy Essential Oil Trade. The ATC was formed following a conference in November 1993 on "Essential Oils & Public Safety" held by the Aromatherapy Organisations Council, the governing body for the aromatherapy profession, and attended by the majority of the established aromatherapy essential oil traders.
Membership is open to those who applicants who agree to comply with the Aims and Objectives of the ATC. A written undertaken must be given to abide by the ATC's Constitution.
All applicants are reviewed by the Membership Committee and none are accepted until bottles, integral droppers and promotional literature conform to the ATC's Code of Practice and requirements of the Medicines Control Agency in accordance with the law. This also applies to labels, which must additionally comply with the Trading Standards' Regulations.
A flexible approach is adopted where applicants have large stocks of labels or literature. A period of time is given for updates and reprints to comply with the ATC's requirements and the law. In such cases, applicants are required to give a written agreement to do this.
Subsequent labels and literature are required to be submitted for scrutiny prior to printing.
A unique number is issued to each ATC member. A current list is available from the administrator. Look out for the ATC membership logo.
