Andrew is a member of the FHT, AoR and the CMA and has advised on some of their material.
His courses are;
• Ear Candling
• Seated Upper Body Massage
• Therapist Injury Prevention Massage/ Therapist Friendly Massage
• Usui Reiki (all levels).

Ear Candling

This course covers the safe application of the Ear Candles using Biosun Original Ear Candles together with an accompanying face and neck massage. The way the Candles work – physical, aromatherapy and emotional/ spiritual is fully explained. As well as a good theoretical grounding, students observe a full demonstration and carry out a paired practice. Questions are encouraged throughout the course and afterwards and myths such as the removal of ear wax by the candling and the assertion that the ear drum is moved by smoke in the external auditory meatus are debunked. Andrew is the only tutor in the UK to have commissioned laboratory research into ear candling which, while being expensive, demonstrates his embracement of the need for research into therapies. Students on his course will learn of over 25 safety features which should be incorporated in a full treatment and will also have access to his vast pool of knowledge which is without equal in the UK.

Seated Upper Body Massage

During the course which covers the whole upper body – back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, face and scalp students are shown, and practice, a routine which contains a large number of styles. The styles borrow from Swedish massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Remedial massage and Reflexology. There are probably more techniques shown on the course than on any other and these include vibrations, stretching and manipulation. Some of the movements are unique to this course and help to extend therapists’ repertoire.
Students paired practice is done clothed and no oils are used. Safety is paramount and the use of massage equipment both simple and complicated is advocated. As well as an ergonomic massage chair being utilised, desk top massage face cradles are provided by Andrew. Many of the techniques can be used in other fields and the system can be adapted for use in the workplace, sports environment, with the disabled and at conferences.
During this course, and in other courses, many marketing issues are discussed with suggested marketing strategies proposed.

Therapist Injury Prevention Massage

Andrew has been shocked by the number of therapists whose activities have been either curtailed or stopped by repetitive strain, or other injuries, which have been caused by work practices in part or in totality. To try to reduce risks he has devised a system, which can be tailored to the therapist’s needs, which is used on a client on a couch either clothed or semi- clothed. During the course the students remain lightly clothed and no oils or creams are applied.
The couch is erected at a normal height and not just above the floor so that there is no kneeling by the therapist which could be harmful. At no time does a student either climb on to the couch or jump over it as these movements can be potentially dangerous especially if the therapist is tall or inflexible.
The whole body is treated and there is great emphasis on ‘reading the body’ and using body stretches.

Usui Reiki (all levels)

Andrew will be pleased to receive enquiries to teach students at all levels.
